On March 24, Hillcrest PTA is sponsoring an A Cappella Musical History assembly with music by “Snowday.” The program takes students on a whirlwind journey through time, tracing the history of a capella singing from its roots in chant, barbershop, and doo-wop to present-day pop and rock. Students are introduced to elements of music theory – including harmonic voice parts and vocal drumming (beatbox) techniques – then invited to learn harmony parts and sing together.
And on April 19, FlowCircus will be joining us for their Science of Awesome program. Performer Paul Miller will leave students (and teachers) with an urge to pick up and play with the world around them to discover the invisible forces of the physical world such as gravity and kinetic energy.
