Hillcrest Read-A-Thon
Our Read-a-thon was created to bring students together with family and friends to encourage reading, build literacy skills and support our school. The Read-a-thon promises to be a fun, exciting journey for all participants as they begin a personal Reading Adventure in completing 10 reading sessions over our 2-week event. Read-a-thon fundraising efforts will enable our PTA to continue supporting student needs, teacher stipends and programs that promote learning, equity, diversity and inclusion.

Bystander Intervention Training
This training is provided by The Howard County Office of Human Rights so that communities can do two things:
– Provide a community service that would increase the likelihood that people will step up to support any community member who is being harassed. We do this by grounding our training in nonviolence, de-escalation, and compassion for others.
– Use the trainings to provide a conduit for people to become interested in becoming progressive political activists and to help them find community groups who are doing activist work that challenges systematic injustices.
